Rent a Motorboat in Sicily

Motorboat Hire in Sicily

There are many potential places to explore by boat in the Mediterranean, Sicily is not always the first one people think of, but it should be! In the summer the weather is beautiful, the wind is mild to moderate, and the water is calm and inviting.

Enjoy the waters, the stunning beaches, secluded coves, and a host of architectural gems dating back thousands of years. Sicily is a stunning island to visit and a real treat to experience from the sea. You can rent a motorboat in Sicily with or without a skipper and you’ll have an experience you’re guaranteed never to forget.

It’s worth noting that you need a license to rent a motorboat in Sicily over 30hp, if you haven’t got a license we can still arrange the boat for you but you’ll need a skipper. You’ll find there is an array of motorboats to choose from, there is something for every budget and every taste, no matter how big or small you want the boat to be. However, you should note that some of the marinas around the island struggle with boats over 35m long, the larger the boat the more you’ll have to plan your stops.

If you have the time when you’re visiting Sicily it’s worth cruising around the Aeolian Islands, where you’ll find the smoking volcanic crater on Vulcano and the imposing top of the volcano at Stromboli that literally rises out of the sea. These 7 islands are inter-connected and an impressive tribute to nature.

Other sites you simply have to see as you travel around the island of Sicily are Cefalu on the northern coast, just east of Palermo, you’ll find Roman baths, a Norman cathedral, and one of the most picturesque fishing villages in the Med.

The narrow straits of Messina separates Sicily from mainland Italy, it’s an unusual but charming sensation cruising the straits and seeing land on both sides. Messina is also home to the cathedral with a Gothic portal.

Further down the eastern coast, you’ll find Catania, with the impressive Mount Etna rising up behind it. This is a historical gem and the centre of the city is UNESCO listed. You’re sure to enjoy getting lost in the narrow streets but make sure you find the famous fish market, it’s a unique experience.

A little further down the coast, you’ll find Syracuse, where Archimedes lived over 2,000 years ago. It’s worth touring the old city, inspecting the Piazza Duomo and taking in Castello Maniace, the place where Archimedes is reported to have used a giant mirror to set the Roman ships on fire.

On the southeastern coast, you’ll find the three towns of Noto, Modica, and Ragusa, all historic gems and worth a look at. The fact that they are all UNESCO World Heritage sites tells you the delights you’re likely to find!

The southern coast is also home to Agrigento, this is the gateway to some of the best Ancient Greek ruins in the world. The Valle dei Templi is a ridge and is where 7 Greek temples were built, much of them remains intact for you to be amazed by.

This is also where you’ll find some fantastic beaches and a chance to snorkel and enjoy the deep blue waters.

The southern coast is great for exploring and finding coves that appear never to have been touched by human hand. As you reach the northwestern corner, you’ll find the salt mines and stunning examples of traditional windmills. These are located near Trapani.

That’s just a few of the delights awaiting you as you rent a motorboat in Sicily and navigate your way around the island. Of course, you should make sure that you have some time to enjoy the delights of Palermo as well. This is a fascinating city with ancient architecture blending perfectly with modern customs and fantastic food.

To arrange the experience of a lifetime just take a look and you can rent a motorboat in Sicily to make the most of every moment. Our first-class customer service team will help you to navigate your way through the hiring process and ensure you have everything you need.
