Rent a Sailboat in Cyclades

Sailboat Hire in Cyclades

There are over 200 islands in the Cyclades, spread across the Aegean Sea. The weather is generally temperate, warm and sunny winters give way to mild and moderately rainy winters. While the summer is obviously the best time to experience these islands, the temperature in winter hovers around 11°C, making it still possible to explore the various islands.

Each island in the Cyclades is effectively the top of a mountain, the bulk of which is submerged. That means you’ve got a whole lot of exploring to do above and below the waterline. There’s no better way to do it than renting a sailboat in the Cyclades.

Of course, you can choose to go with a motor, but there is something infinitely delightful and charming about being at the helm of a sailboat as the wind catches the mainsail.

Don’t worry if you haven’t got the experience of license for the larger sailboats, just choose a skipper that will show you all the hidden gems in the Cyclades, and there are a lot.

The real beauty of renting a sailboat in Cyclades is that you’ll get to see some stunning coastline and find beaches that are inaccessible from land. All you have to do is drop anchor and enjoy!

The main islands are Paros, Mykonos, and Santorini, each has their own unique character with friendly locals and a distinctive Greek feel. Mykonos is the most cosmopolitan with some truly special bars and nightclubs. You’ll need to find the time to visit the impressive windmills of Kato Mili and perhaps check out some of the fine Greek architecture.

Santorini is perhaps the most famous of all the islands in Greece. The picturesque landscape is certain to give you memories that will last a lifetime. Check out the sunset from the island and from the boat, both options offer a great perspective.

It’s worth noting that Santorini is one of just two volcanic islands in the Cyclades. In fact, parts of the island have sunk in the past!

A visit to Paros will have you thinking you’ve stepped back in time, there are idyllic coastal villages and some of the best coves in the whole of the Cyclades. Most are accessible by land but to really appreciate them you need to travel by boat. It is worth visiting the shops on this island and checking out traditional Greek food in the restaurants lining the beach.

No trip to the Cyclades is complete without visiting Delos. It’s the center of the Cyclades archipelago and is considered one of the most important places in the world. Originally revered as holy sanctuary, Greek mythology made it the birthplace of Apollo and Artemis. The ruins that remain on this island are impressive, including the theater and the sacred lake.
