From Castiglioncello you can set sail to Tuscany sailing areas, enjoy Elba archipelago by sailboat and reach beautiful Corsica coastlines by your boat.
With 650 berths, Marina di Cala de' Medici is a well organized harbor with shops, restaurant and cafes. Close to the towns of Rosignano Solvay and Castiglioncello, the marina is recommended for chartering a sailboat and cruising towards Elba (33 NM), Capraia (32 NM) and North Corsica (48 NM to Macinaggio). The Pisa airport is just 40 Km away and there are train stations both in nearby Castiglioncello and Rosignano Solvay. For those travelling by car, it’s a chance to really feel the essence and charm of Tuscany, with its legendary landscape and light.
The Marina is very functional, with toilets, electricity, water, car parking (payable on-site), with ATM machines and supermarkets at an easy walking distance. We recommend double-checking the weather forecast before setting sail back to Cala de' Medici: the winds coming from the third and the fourth quadrant (Libeccio and Maestrale) sometimes become quite treacherous in the area.
Marina di Cala de' Medici is situated right in the heart of Tuscany, so our suggestion (which goes for all Tuscan bases) is to spend another week visiting splendid places such as Siena, Florence...and the never-ending list of towns and countryside. The village of Castiglioncello itself is typical in its Italian charm, and is a lovely place to spend the day as you wait for your boat to be prepared. If time allows, get there a day early and just relax, swim, shop and eat. Our partner here is among the most professional the Sailogy's Sail Hunter has inspected and certified in Italy.
