"In Naples the place you have to go to rent a sailboat is the Darsena Acton. This little harbor is located at the very end of the main harbor and it is the nearest marina to the center of the city. Here I caught up with Fabrizio, who was there working on a boat and he showed me part of the fleet as the rest was in a shipyard for winter’s maintenance.
I want to be honest with you: the place is certainly not the best location for staying overnight and it is not the definitive sailing destination we all think about, but, on the other hand, is the nearest Marina to Napoli Airport and is just a few steps away from downtown and its beauties. In case you are not interested in “cultural stuff” all you have to do is to slip the moorings and set your sails towards one of the options that the Gulf of Naples presents! Fabrizio offered me an espresso (nearly a religion in Naples!) and he confirmed all that I just wrote. In addition they have a night watchman here on the dock and I have to say that the sailboats looked to me a little bit too used, but still in good conditions.
My suggestion is to plan your holiday having in mind the distances between Naples and your destinations, especially if you are looking for sailing to the Eolie Archipelago: in this case I definitely recommend two weeks, as it takes 10 to 12 hours just to reach Stromboli, which is the first island arriving from Naples (130 Nm). The fleet is composed by 4 Cyclades, a Sun Odyssey 40, a Bavaria 42 and a Oceanis 423. On request they can also organize wedding and other special events!
Now I have to go, tomorrow I will visit Procida where I found three charter companies and I will keep hunting this afternoon for others. See you later crew!"
