Thanks to its turquoise coast, sailing Turkey is an immersive experience. But Marmaris has much more than superb coastlines, in fact, once you will be mooring your sailboat at Marmaris marina, you will be loving a night out in this beautiful city!
Marmaris is famed for its extravagant Bar Street, which does, exactly as its name suggests. No night on the Turkish Riviera is complete without a peek at the street. Meet your friends at the Statue of Ataturk and experience a real Turkish night with belly dancers, folkdance and the traditional kofte dish. If ever there was a reason to get a taxi, this is one: Caglayan Restaurant, 13km from Marmaris is a bit of a schlep, but one certainly worth making. Among more foliage than the Amazon, a waterfall and pond with freshwater trout fabulous Turkish flatbreads, seafood and meat are served by more than happy hosts (Cetibeli Koyu). That's just a wonderful scenario after a sailing day in Marmaris coastline.
Don't leave the sunny town of Marmaris without paying the Carsi Market, or Marmaris Grand Bazaar, a visit. Easily the largest public shopping destination, the bazaar is located in the heart of the town square offering jewelry, leather, foods and drinks, souvenirs and beautifully embroidered, traditional handicrafts. On your way back to the harbor stop at the ruins of Marmaris Castle, then set sail for Dalyan Caunos and get ready to see one of the most beautiful place ever. Iztuzu, better known as Turtle beach, is famous as a breeding ground for the loggerhead turtle and is the place where these giants of the sea nestle and lay their eggs in the sand on summer nights.
