From Santa Teresa di Gallura you can explore the marvelous coasts of Sardinia
The town of Santa Teresa di Gallura is situated on the northernmost tip of Sardinia, making it an ideal position for cruising towards the islands of Corsica (9 NM), La Maddalena (12 NM) and the rest of the archipelago. The nearest airport is Olbia, which is 70 km away. While it may lack the glitter and glitz of the more famous ports on the Emerald Coast, the crystal blue water and soft white sand is just as astounding. And the mood in the town is lively - but decidely more relaxed and understated.
The marina has been recently renovated and offers all kinds of tourist facilities and services. Do keep in mind however, that the harbor is a bit removed from the actual village of Santa Teresa - about 20 to 30 minutes’ walking distance. For those that wish to depart from here, we recommend arriving a day or two in advance and exploring the charming town and its many nearby beaches.
This northern area is subject to mistral winds that tend to increase rapidly and without much warning, sometimes making entry and exit a bit tricky. Also, if you’re sailing without a skipper, remember to look carefully at the maps: there are plenty of shallow areas nearby.
