Charter a sailboat in Stockholm: cruising the Baltic Sea

Falling in love with the Baltic Sea

Day 1

We recommend starting your journey in Gashaga Marina, close to the city centre and the surrounding islands that make up Stockholm’s archipelago. Sail out eastwards towards the city of Vaxholm, which has several small southern islets to travel around, before returning to central Stockholm to Lidingo.

Day 2

From Lidingo southwest towards the small island of Fjäderholmarna. During summer the beach is a great place to escape city life and relax in the sun or swim in the clear sea, while the surrounding restaurants and cafes offer a mixture of local and international cuisine. Continue sailing southwest towards Djurgården, where you can moor your yacht at the harbour towards the west of the island. There are plenty of forest areas and green spaces to explore on foot, as well as an amusement park.

Day 3

Heading further south we reach the island of Södermalm, and artistic district full of boutiques, vintage stores and art shops and galleries to explore. Tantolunden, a large park located to the west of the island, offers a range of sports activities, scenic walks and swimming opportunities.

Day 4

Make a longer sailing trip west along the northern coast of Hagersten, past the green island of Kungshatt and northwards, making a round trip around the island of Lovo. Sail past Sora Essingen towards the island of Kungsholmen.

Day 5

Kungsholmen is home to Stockholm’s second harbour, located in Marieberg, which is ideal for mooring your yacht while exploring the neighbouring islands. Be sure to visit Fredhällsbadet, the rocky beach on the western side of Kungsholmen, and the Stockholm City Hall on the eastern tip of the island.

Day 6

The stylish capital is full of impressive architecture, cool restaurants and cafes and a lively nightlife. Key places to explore on the main island include Sergels Torg and the Royal Dramatic Theatre. Gamla Stan, Stockholm’s old town, is home to Stortoget, the iconic town square and the Royal Palace, and is characterised by its old building and cobbled streets. There are plenty of charming restaurants and bars here serving typical Swedish cuisine.

Day 7

Sailing past the north part of Djurgarden and then further north around Lidingo, we return to Gashaga Marina.
