Corfu sailing itinerary - Easter special edition

If you’re searching for an immersive experience in authentic Mediterranean traditions, there’s no better destination than Corfu during Easter. The island lights up with spiritual energy, joyful music, and ancient rituals, making Holy Week (Palm Sunday to Easter Sunday) the most spectacular time to visit.

From processions led by philharmonic bands to the iconic pot-smashing celebration on Holy Saturday, Corfu’s Easter is unlike anywhere else in Greece – or the world.

We recommend arriving early in the morning to enjoy the full Easter experience on land before setting sail. Spend time in Corfu Town, wander its Venetian streets, and witness unforgettable customs like the smashing of clay pots from the balconies of Corfu Town on Holy Saturday, as well as the first resurrection and mass celebrations that begin on Saturday morning and continue through Easter Sunday.

Once you've soaked in the festivities, it’s time to sail! This 7-day itinerary focuses on the eastern coastline of Corfu, Paxos, and Antipaxos, keeping you close to the island's cultural heart while ensuring plenty of open-water sailing, scenic bays, and relaxing stops.

Day 1 (Saturday): Morning in Corfu Town – Check-in at Gouvia – Nearby Beaches

Approx. 6–8 NM total sailing

Start your Easter sailing experience with one of the most iconic traditions in Greece: the Holy Saturday pot-smashing in Corfu Town. Head to Liston Square by 11:00 AM, where locals throw clay pots from balconies to celebrate the Resurrection, filling the air with a thunderous, festive crash.

After soaking in the atmosphere, take a short ride to Gouvia Marina for your afternoon yacht check-in. Once aboard, sail out for a short warm-up and anchor near Kommeno Bay or Dassia Beach for a swim and sunset dinner onboard.

Spend the night at anchor or return to Gouvia for a comfortable marina stay.

.

Day 2 (Sunday – Easter Sunday): Gouvia – Mandraki Marina – Petriti

Approx. 22 NM – 4 hours sailing (split)

In the morning, sail to Mandraki Marina, just beneath the Old Fortress of Corfu Town, to fully immerse yourself in Easter Sunday celebrations. Attend the Service of Love, stroll through the lively streets, and taste traditional dishes like lamb on a spit, kokoretsi, and magiritsa soup served across the city.

After lunch, begin your journey south along the eastern coast of Corfu, heading to the peaceful fishing village of Petriti, known for its calm anchorage and welcoming tavernas. It’s the perfect spot to relax after a festive morning.

.

Day 3 (Monday): Petriti – Lakka (Paxos)

Approx. 20 NM – 3.5 hours sailing

Spend a quiet morning in Petriti — go for a swim, grab breakfast at a seaside café, or stroll along the beach. Then, raise the anchor and set course for Paxos, arriving in the northern port of Lakka by the afternoon.

Lakka is a sailor’s favorite: a beautiful, protected bay with crystal-clear waters, perfect for swimming and paddleboarding. The village is dotted with cozy tavernas and olive trees and offers the perfect balance between nature and island charm.

.

Day 4 (Tuesday): Lakka – Antipaxos

Approx. 15 NM – 3.5 hours sailing

After a peaceful night in Lakka, it’s time to set sail south towards the dreamlike waters of Antipaxos. This tiny, uninhabited island is a true jewel of the Ionian, known for its brilliant turquoise bays and unspoiled nature.

Drop anchor at:

Spend the afternoon swimming, snorkeling, or paddleboarding in these pristine surroundings. Depending on weather conditions, you can anchor overnight off Antipaxos or head back toward Paxos for a more sheltered anchorage.

.

Day 5 (Wednesday): Antipaxos – Gaios (Paxos)

Approx. 10 NM – 3 hours sailing (with exploration)

After a refreshing morning dip, sail back to Paxos, entering the picturesque natural harbor of Gaios. The channel leading into town is lined with pastel buildings and shaded cafés, making your arrival feel straight out of a postcard.

Along the way, consider a detour to the Tripitos Arch or the sea caves on Paxos' west coast, depending on sea conditions.

Once in Gaios:

.

Day 6 (Thursday): Gaios – Syvota – Gouvia Marina

Approx. 28 NM – 5 hours sailing (with stop)

Today is your final big sailing day, and it’s a spectacular one. Start early from Gaios and sail northeast to the Syvota Islands, a stunning cluster off the Epirus coast.

Make time to explore:

After a refreshing swim or a quick lunch stop, begin your return leg to Gouvia Marina. The final stretch offers open water sailing and great coastal views as you complete your Easter sailing loop.

We recommend arriving in Gouvia Marina by late afternoon, allowing time to refuel, check out, and enjoy a relaxed final evening either at the marina or nearby Corfu Town.

A yacht charter in Corfu is the best option to experience this stunning island from a unique perspective.
