  4. Ibiza: so much more than clubbing

The white isle has long been a heady mix of mighty fine DJs, super clubs, laidback locals and scorching summer temperatures has meant that Ibiza is on every clubbers must-do list. There is, however, a large part of the island that remains almost undiscovered and practically peaceful compared to San Antonio.

Nowadays, the number of tourists skipping the sundowners and heading to the more tranquil side of the island is growing. Whichever Ibiza you’ve come in search off, you shouldn’t miss the Ushuaia Beach Hotel (Playa d’en Bossa). The already iconic hotel only opened a few years ago yet its pool discos are legendary, if you’d prefer to avoid the strobe lights book in to the Minami restaurant, which serves great teppanyaki, then escape before the crowds get there around midnight. Of course, a hedonistic trip here wouldn’t be complete without letting your hair down at one of the big-name clubs – Café del Mar and Space have certainly still got it, despite clocking up a collective 55 years of clubbing. Over in Playa es Cavallet Spanish and international tourists mingle on the white loungers of the new-age Ibiza outpost, El Chiringuito. The name means beach hut, but there’s nothing terribly rustic about this place – lobster lasagne and juicy prawns make up the lunch-only menu which the glam guests wash down with a mirage cocktail made with red vodka and ginger. For a truly memorable dining experience along the coastline head to El Boldado, where fresh fish is the order of the day. Caught right on the shores that you overlook, this is a terribly romantic, secluded and home-grown affair – even some of the wine on offer is harvested on the Island. A short hop on the ferry and you’ll find yourself in Formentera, the smallest Balearic Isle and Ibiza’s even more stunning sister. White sands and clear blue seas attract yachts, but the best way to tour round is to drop anchor and hire a bike, ensuring a stop at every cove to cool off – divine!

Festivals, immeasurable quantities of beverages and beachside parties aside, Ibiza's wild fashion industry is often overlooked when the island is considered. Pack light and broaden your mind by stepping foot into the nighttime shopping arena in Ibiza's old town. From new to old, high street to vintage, leatherware to artwork and more, the Plaza del Parque plays host to huge variety of stores that'll add an extra Spanish flair to your seasonal look.
