Mooring in Primošten

As one of Croatia’s most beautiful destinations, anyone who’s ever been here or done some research on Croatian holidays has probably seen at least one picture of the pretty, pristine Primosten (a photo of the peninsula is featured on one of Lonely Planet’s Croatia editions). While there aren’t many important monuments or museums to see, the medieval town has really managed to retain its charm, and a beautiful shady trail runs around the whole peninsula—perfect for taking a nice walk and then a swim in the crystal clear water.

Ah, yes, an important detail for anyone who decides to pay a visit in the summer: Primosten is home to Aurora, the largest nightclub in Dalmatia and—as much as I’ve heard—a not-to-be-missed spot for those who love clubbing. Since it’s open only from June to September, I didn’t get a chance to visit, but I’d love to hear from anyone who has!

But we were talking about sailing, weren’t we? Since this key location was still missing fromthe Sailogy network, one of my primary goals for this trip was to find a partner based in MarinaKremik.

The marina itself is in an enviable position: only 35 km from the Split airport and just 10 minutesfrom Primosten and its beautiful beaches, it’s a good departure spot both for the Kornati Islandsand the islands of Central Dalmatia, like Hvar. Here, I spoke to Boris, the base manager for a company with one of the newest fleets in Croatia. Most of their vessels are Salonas, boats made from the famous Croatian shipyards, which they’ve chosen because it allows them to receive spare parts faster, and helps them provide customers with 24h assistance. Personally, I really like these yachts, and consider them a great combination of comfort, design and performance.

With eleven Salona 37s and ten Salona 38s in their fleet, I would consider this company for anyone looking to organize team building events and company regattas: Stanko and his crew employ an all-inclusive policy so the price of the boat includes everything needed for these kinds of events. Stanko told me that a recent client of theirs was none other than Magnus Olsson, the famous Swedish skipper from the Volvo Ocean Races! If these boats are good enough for Olsson, of course they pass the Sail Hunter’s certification!
