Relax and comfort on the Aeolian Islands: Q&A with Filippo

Today we interview Filippo who sailed in the Aeolian Islands with his crew in the first week of August with a Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 349.  In this interview he shares with us the spots he loved the most during his holiday, what's the reason behind picking a boat with a skipper. He also shares some tips for those who are consider sailing for their first time.

"My name is Filippo, I have had experience on sailing dinghies before. For the other members of the crew, this was the first time they experienced sailing. During this holiday, the crew was composed of my girlfriend and another couples with whom I volunteer in an ambulance during the year. We went to the Aeolian Islands, starting from Capo d'Orlando, from the 1st to the 8th of August".

If you could pick a place (bay, port, city, etc...) in particular that you visited that you will remember forever, which one would you choose and why?

"One place that can will always remain impressed in my memory is undoubtedly the Island of Stromboli, especially in the part of the Sciara del fuoco. We were lucky enough to sail at night along the coast and admire the explosions of lava coming out of the volcano, all accompanied by the unmistakable roar that marks the passing by of time in the island.

The view is not only enchanting but it also leaves that special feeling of being in close contact with untouched beautiful nature".

You chose the solution with a skipper, what did you like most about having a skipper on board?

"Having the skipper with you is always a guarantee. You basically have someone with some incredible sailing experience and a deep knowledge of the areas to visit at full disposal. This allows you to organize your trip in the best possible way and to get to see what you shouldn't miss out on. As your skipper has an extensive knowledge of where to go means you can choose where it is safe, taking into account the weather conditions and overcrowding".

Time to unwind for Filippo's crew

Do you have any advice for those who are thinking about a sailing holiday for their first time?

"I suggest not overthink it and take this opportunity right away, especially in times of social distancing sailing is just the perfect solution. You are in contact with people you know, you get to explore new wonderful places visiting the most beautiful spots without having to get off the boat.

A relaxing but also adventurous holiday, learning or refining sailing techniques. It can be an experience of absolute comfort, on board a catamaran or a large sailing boat, or the opportunity to enjoy a more sporty holiday on a smaller boat to discover life at sea".
