From Bar you can sail along the coastline of Montenegro
Perhaps one of the most important seaside town in Montenegro, Bar is becoming an increasingly popular base for renting a boat, especially for sailing enthusiasts who want to avoid the summer crowds in Croatia and Italy. In a beautiful, natural setting, this ancient port has recently undergone an impressive modernization process, while managing to maintain its old world charm. It's well-connected location, makes Bar a perfect departure base for sailing holidays in the stunning Adriatic waters and exploring the islands off the coast of Montenegro or Southern Croatia.
The nearest airport is the Podgorica International Airport (45 km): it's easy to either hire a car locally, or else take one of the buses that travel from the airport to the town of Bar. For those coming from Italy, there is a ferry connecting Bar to its Italian “sister” town of Bari; in the high season, ferries also arrive from Ancona twice a week. Should you arrive a bit early for check-in, a visit to the old town is definitely worth a few hours' visit. There are also gorgeous beaches nearby in Susanj, and the largest lake in the whole Balkan region, Skadar, is also an easy day trip and definitely worth seeing.
