Charter a sailboat in San Vincenzo? Itinerary to explore Tuscany

Day 1

With an 11km stretch of fine sandy beaches, the quiet town of San Vincenzo offers you a peaceful, relaxing stay. Within close walking distance is the Park of Rimigliano, one of Tuscany’s most scenic parks, where you can go on a nature trail to discover local wildlife, as well as a number of rare plants and exotic flowers. Towards Rimigliano the sea is deep enough for popular activities such as swimming, scuba diving, boating and recreational fishing.

Day 2

11 NM directly south of San Vincenzo is the popular town of Piombino. Formerly an old port, Piombino has a number of pristine beaches and secluded coves, where you can swim, fish or lounge on the soft sand.

Day 3

Elba Island is widely considered one of the most beautiful islands in the Tuscan Archipelago, and is located 8 NM west of Piombino. Sea kayaking, snorkeling and windsurfing are all popular activities, while mountain biking and archaeological walks are popular land-based options. Ferry companies also operate excursions from Piombino to the island’s largest city, Portoferraio, on an hourly basis during summer, and take between 30-60 minutes.

Day 4

Sailing 12 NM further south we reach the charming town of Scarlino. Its ancient past is preserved in the remains of the 11th century stone castle and surrounding defensive walls, making it a great place to sightsee and soak up some local history. Closer to the sea Scarlino has a fully equipped high-tech marina, as well as its own yacht club and swimming pool, meaning you can moor your yacht with ease before relaxing in the unspoilt surroundings.

Day 5

From Scarlino we sail southwards 10 NM to the tip of Punta Ala. With its own yacht club and popular sailing regattas, the town attracts large numbers of tourists all year round, making it a lively must-see sailing destination.

Day 6

Explore Punta Ala’s more traditional charms, which include its rich wine production and a number of towers, churches and castles dating back to the Renaissance.

Day 7

Return north, sailing 28 NM to San Vincenzo.
