Sailing the emerald coast on one of our certified sailing boats will surely make you feel like a star.

What do Gwyneth Paltrow, Heidi Klum and Cristiano Ronaldo have in common? When it's time to rent a boat and to set sail for the summer, they all head to the Mediterranean's most dazzling and exclusive destination, the legendary Sardinia's Emerald Coast.

Stretching just over 70 kilometers along the northeastern coast of Sardinia, Italy's second-largest island, the Costa Smeralda features some of the most pristine, breathtaking expanses of shoreline in the entire Mediterranean. Simply the perfect scenario for your sailing vacation in the Mediterranean. While fads and trends come and go, the posh seaside towns of Porto Cervo and Porto Rotondo remain among the most exclusive summer destinations in the world, attracting movie stars and models, oligarchs, footballers and their entourages. And little wonder: the concept of Sardinia's Emerald Coast as a "fairytale" destination was conceived by a legendary member of the global jet-set himself, the playboy and prince, Karim Aga Khan IV. The passionate horse-racer, skier and sailor first became enchanted with this stretch of then-empty coast in 1958, when his yacht found shelter from a storm in one of the many inlets. Basically if you rent a sailboat in the Emerald Coast, you will be a superstar!

By the early 1960s, he and a group of equally rich partners had already purchased more than 12 thousand acres of coastal properties on which he constructed villas, luxury hotels and, of course, marinas for the preferred mode of Mediterranean travel for the glitterati: yachts and sailboats of dizzying size and grandeur. Luckily for the rest of the world, however, these wealthy developers had every intention of spending their holidays here and therefore wanted to keep the region pretty much as they'd found it: wild Mediterranean fauna, pink sunsets and cobblestone, countless hidden coves with white sand beaches and the stunning “emerald” water. There may be fewer shepherds and bakers now than before, but the Costa Smeralda has remained nothing short of a terrestrial paradise. To enjoy this amazing corner of the world, rent one of our certified sailboat from the nearby base of Portisco.

Porto Cervo, the unoffical “capital” of the Costa Smeralda, is a unqiue blend of charm and luxury. After a day spent in the midst of the sea, it's time to  moor your boat in Porto Cervo. Strolling through the narrow streets you get to the Piazza delle Chiacchere (which roughly translates to “gossip square”), and in the high season you may find yourself sitting next to an A-list star or two. The quaint looking boutiques are filled with the most expensive designer names in the world--a shopping heaven for those with platinum credit cards. About 6 km north of Porto Cervo lies the seafront town of Porto Rotondo, the other “place to be seen” on the Costa Smeralda, known for its dazzling nightlife and again, a great deal of bling. You won't be bored once you'll be off your boat after an amazing sailing day in Sardinia!

Whatever the size of your boat or budget, keep in mind that there's no need to pull out your credit card to enjoy the splendid water, private beach coves and legendary pink sunsets that the Emerald Coast offers. And as for the celebrity spotting? That too, is free of charge. Enjoy!
